Review: Fallen In Love by Lauren Kate

Review: Fallen In Love by Lauren Kate
3rd Book Review of 2012

Author: Lauren Kate

Grade: A+!

Cover:
Look at Luce! She is so beautiful! She has that longing look on her face. Beautiful background. My full praise to Fernanda Brussi, the artist in the Fallen series covers. :)

Summary:

Unexpected. Unrequited. Forbidden. Eternal. Everyone has their own love story.

And in a twist of fate, four extraordinary love stories combine over the course of a romantic Valentine's Day in Medieval England. Miles and Shelby find love where they least expect it. Roland learns a painful lesson about finding-and losing love. Arianne pays the price for a love so fierce it burns. And for the first -and last- time, Daniel and Luce will spend a night together like none other.

Lauren Kate's FALLEN IN LOVE is filled with love stories . . . the ones everyone has been waiting for.

True love never says goodbye . . .

My Opinion:

I absolutely loved it! The first day that I had my hands on it . . .I finished it! I couldn't put it down. Since, there wasn't really any plot in this book except for love stories I completely loved it! I was expecting the worse due to Passion's, Book 3 in the Fallen series, repetitiveness in Luce and Daniel's romances but Lauren has redeemed herself in Fallen In Love. At least, partly. Fallen In Love shows Shelby+Miles, Roland's, Arriane's, and, of course, Luce+Daniel Valentine's Day! I am not a fan of the Shelby and Miles get-together. Anyone who has read Torment, Book 2 in the Fallen series, can see they will end up together but what really caught my attention and praise was Roland's and Arriane's Valentine's Day love story. I never expected that to happen. I was in complete awe every time I turned a page. I cried in all of the Valentine's Day love stories.  I only cried in Roland's love story. Lauren Kate can certainly write love stories and I give her, without hesitation,  an A+!

MLK Book Haul!

As you all know . . .it's Martin Luther King Jr Day!! :D :D :D Happy Birthday, Mr.King! You are a great inspiration and, well, without you I wouldn't be friends with the people I'm friends with now. :) I just can't believe you had a dream so big and, what it was back then, impossible while I only dream about. . .*thinks* well, I don't even remember what I dream about but I took your birthday as an excuse to get some books:

*DRUM ROLL*

So, I went to Barnes & Noble today, since Borders no longer exists, and got 3 books! Well, 4! I was about to make my Dad spend his hard-earned money on 8 books but I cut my desires in half .*sigh* And so I got. . . . . . . . . . .  .

*another DRUM ROLL*

Yeah, that's right! I finally got my hands on Cinder by Marissa Meyer! I love the font used in the back of the book! I am curious because I saw Cait . . .I really don't know who she is but one of my friends on Goodreads kept liking her status so I thought "Maybe I should check this out" When I finally checked out what exactly everyone kept 'liking' I IMMEDIATELY CLICKED THE "Like" BUTTON TOO! You want to see for yourself? Click ----------> HEY, CLICK HERE!

You will NOT regret it! I promise! it made my day and brought a smile to my fave every time I thought about it!

Oh, and here are the other books I got. I almost forgot. . . .

I know what your thinking "You just NOW got these? I have all of them and Silence! Now, I'm just waiting for Finale!" Finale, is the name of the 4th and final book of the Hush, Hush saga. I'm not really a fan of the name but I've heard nothing but praise for this saga! I just finally had the nerve to take them home with me and, as for, The Story of King Arthur and His Knights. What can I say? I'm a Arthurian lover!

So, I hope you enjoyed yourselves and have been reading during your one-day vacation! I am so close to finishing "The Eleventh Plague" by Jeff Hirsh! Review to come soon!

Review: Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson

2nd Book Review of 2012

Author: Laurie Halse Anderson

Grade: A+!

Cover: It was the only reason I picked up the book and said "This looks cool." When I finished reading the book . . .the cover meant something to me.

Summary:
“Dead girl walking,” the boys say in the halls.
“Tell us your secret,” the girls whisper, one toilet to another.
I am that girl.
I am the space between my thighs, daylight shining through.
I am the bones they want, wired on a porcelain frame.

Lia and Cassie were best friends, wintergirls frozen in matchstick bodies. But now Cassie is dead. Lia's mother is busy saving other people's lives. Her father is away on business. Her step-mother is clueless. And the voice inside Lia's head keeps telling her to remain in control, stay strong, lose more, weigh less. If she keeps on going this way—thin, thinner, thinnest—maybe she'll disappear altogether.

In her most emotionally wrenching, lyrically written book since the National Book Award finalist Speak, best-selling author Laurie Halse Anderson explores one girl's chilling descent into the all-consuming vortex of anorexia

My Opinion:
It was perfectly written. I felt everything this girl went through. Why she forced herself to not eat. Why she kept counting calories. Why she doesn't really say what she means. Lia's story progresses deeper and deeper throughout the book that it's mesmerizing. Her worries are mostly about what she eats. How fat she gets after eating half a muffin. It gives me a new perspective on people who are anorexic or who are their way to dealing with anorexia. It makes me thinks twice about people. Her struggle against her family and Cassie. . .it was just breathtaking how much they, her family, loved her and, yet, she resents them for it. Cassie was just another problem all together. My stomach felt all queasy when I found out how she died. This is must-read. All girls and guys will think twice before they do anything. :)

What did I find in the mail today? Continue reading to find out . . .

. . .so guess what I found as I came home from practice at my dining table!? GUESS! I want you to guess! Elephant? Nah, to big to fit in the room. A skateboard? Pah-lease! I would probably bust my butt on the first try! A gold certificate so that I can FINALLY ride on the polar express? I WISH! :D Thank you for all of your guesses but what I found was *dramatic music*. . . . . . . . . (look below)

THE BOOK SWAG!
A LETTER FULL OF BOOKMARKS AND 2 SIGNED BOOKPLATES!! The bookplates are signed by Alyson Noel. She tweeted "As a special holiday THANK YOU- I'm giving away bookmarks & signed bookplates to the first 75 people to e-mail my assistant at Jeanette @ alysonnoel dot com -just put "Holiday" in the subject line & give her your mailing address! Happy Holidays to all! :)" Of course you can't do it now because all of those 75 spots are filled! I was lucky enough to catch the tweet at that moment! A closer look at her AUTOGRAPH!!!!----->

I really love this!! I can't say anything much on it but I will email Alyson Noel's assistant to thank her. Even though she can't email me back I want her to know this meant the world to me!

Review: Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

First Book of 2012

It's  once  again . . .still  2012  and  I  just  finished  my  first  novel  of  the  year!  If  you  want  to  know  which  one  keep scrolling  and  read  my  review!

Author:  Melissa  Marr

Cover:  Look  at  it!  (scroll  down)  A  girl  with  frozen  hands  holding  a  frozen  purple  flower. It's  mesmerizing.

Rate: A!

Summary: Rule #3: Don't stare at invisible faeries.
Aislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in mortal world. Aislinn fears their cruelty—especially if they learn of her Sight—and wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens.
Rule #2: Don't speak to invisible faeries.
Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.
Rule #1: Don't ever attract their attention.
But it's too late. Keenan is the Summer King who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. He is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost—regardless of her plans or desires.
Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; her life; everything.
Faerie intrigue, mortal love, and the clash of ancient rules and modern expectations swirl together in Melissa Marr's stunning 21st century faery tale.
My Opinion:
Faeries!  When  I  think  of  faeries  I  think  happy,  cheerful,  and  sweet.  In  Melissa  Marr's  novel,  Wicked  Lovely,  her  view  of  faeries  crushed  my  own  view  but  in  a  very  good  way  so  don't  get  me  wrong! I  love  how  the  situation  makes  me  think  "What  am  I  missing?"  Melissa  Marr  switches  perspectives  throughout  her  novel  and  it   gives  me  a  new  sense  of  knowing  how  all  the characters  think  and  reasons  as  to  why  they  do  what  they  do.  Keenan  is  the  Summer  King  and  he  searches  for  his  Summer Queen.  Well,  guess  what? The  girl  who's  terrified  of  faeries,  due  to  her  Sight,  is  in  fact  the  Summer  Queen! Melissa   really  played  with  my  thinking  throughout  the book.  Each  page  I  had  to  stop  and  think "Wait,  but  how  will _____ do  this  without  doing  that?" The  entire plot  line  was  a  paradox . . . to  me  anyway.  But  one  thing  that  made  me  envy  Ash  was  Seth! Yeah,  who  picks  a  ordinary  (NOT)  mortal  instead  of  a  faery  Summer  King? Oh  yeah . . . ME!  I'll  tell  you  one  thing . . . I  NEVER  expected  none  of  that  stuff  to happen.  I  never  thought  Beira  would  ______ like  that!  The  whole  Dark  Court,  Summer  Court,  High Court,  and  Winter  Court predicament  seems  to  be  only  the  beginning!
All  can  say  is  that  I  can't  wait   to  get  my hands  on  'Ink Exchange'!  The  2nd  book  in  the  Wicked  Lovely  series!

The Hunger Games Trailer

AHHHHHHH!!! The Hunger Games was just . . . . . . . :O! Since the trailer came out on Good Morning America I could not stop watching it! I came back from school and the first thing I did was go to YouTube and, sure enough the trailer, the FULL trailer, was already uploaded! Keep in mind I did NOT read the book when I first watched the trailer. I saw the part in the trailer where it said "From the Best-Selling Epic Novels" and thought "So, it's a book?" and did a mental note of getting it on my Kindle later.

Before The Reading:

When I first saw the trailer I was mesmerized and intrigued but I didn't really know anyone except when Effie announced Prim's, Katniss', and Peeta's name. I didn't know anyone or understood the plot very much except that Katniss and Peeta had entered something called The Hunger Games. I saw the blimp and saw a what I thought was some kind of training room.

After The Reading:

When I saw the trailer after I read the book I screamed out all of the character's names and what position and District they were from! I was there on my chair pointing at the screen yelling "KATNISS!" ..."HAYMITCH!" ... "THE GAMEMAKERS!" and so on . . . I couldn't say I didn't enjoy knowing who saw going to die or survive. :) It was great being in the know but I'm curious to see how they do the wall of fire, the whole hijacks incident, and ESPECIALLY the mockingjays.

Then, I heard the whole Team Peeta VS Team Gale battle was about to commence but do you know who I ABSOLUTELY loved!? That's right! Haymitch! He was so hilarious and cool and well ...he was just awesome ^-^

What I Expect of the Movie:

I don't expect nothing but the awesomeness I saw in the trailer! One thing I do expect to see is the flashbacks Katniss had throughout the book. I really want to see mockingjays and the wolves!! But one thing I REALLY and I mean REALLY want to see is . . . . . Katniss's singing! I imagined the song and her voice to beautiful and I hope it turns out the way I imagined it. :)

Can't Wait Books of 2012!

Ahhhhhh!! It's 2012. Looks like I can't get over the fact that 2011 is over.....

...anyways! Here are some of the books I CAN'T WAIT for in 2012! So, let's begin shall we?

Release Date: January 24th, 2012
This novel, Fallen In Love, is part of the Fallen series by Lauren Kate. It originally wasn't going to be part of the series but until recent announcements, by the author herself, it is now. Okay, so Fallen In Love has love stories on the side characters like Shelby, Miles, Arriane, Roland, and YES! Luce & Daniel on their ONLY Valentine's Day. How sad is that? It includes an except on Rapture (squeals!) and it comes out January 24th, 2012! I cannot wait for this book!! It's a book in-between Passion and Rapture so the order is Fallen, Torment, Passion, Fallen In Love, and Rapture.

Summary:

What makes your heart race a little faster? Just in time for Valentine's Day, it's FALLEN IN LOVE, four wholly original new stories collected in a new novel set in the Middle Ages by Lauren Kate. FALLEN IN LOVE gives fans the much-talked about but never-revealed stories of FALLEN characters as they intertwine with the epic love story of Luce and Daniel. The stories include: Love Where You Least Expect It: The Valentine of Shelby and Miles , Love Lessons: The Valentine of Roland; Burning Love: The Valentine of Arriane; and Endless Love: The Valentine of Daniel and Lucinda.
Release Date: May/June 2012

AHHHH!! Rapture, the FINAL book of Fallen series by Lauren Kate. Lauren let me down in Passion, she really did, but I'm hoping that Rapture makes up for it. I read the Prologue and the 1st Chapter and I got all tingling! I just can't for the battle between Fallen Angels VS Lucifer! :D

Summary:

The sky is dark with wings. . . .

In RAPTURE, the highly anticipated fourth and final novel in the FALLEN series, Luce and Daniel are together . . . but for how long? Can history be rewritten? Or are some punishments eternal?

Release Date: June 19th, 2012

The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead. Richelle left me gaped-mouthed when I finished Bloodlines! I couldn't believe HE showed up again. I never thought HE would show up like that. Poor Adrian. I'm trying to keep spoilers out so yeah. The Golden Lily is 2nd book in the 'Bloodlines' series. It's a spin-off series of the Vampire Academy series and it comes out June 19th, 2012. I love Sydney because I can relate to her 100% of the time. I think I love her more than Rose but my love is truest to Adrian .....*shakes head* ummm back to the book. I love the cover and I'm just giddy for it to come out already!

Summary:

The second thrilling installment in Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy spinoff series.

Tough, brainy alchemist Sydney Sage and doe-eyed Moroi princess Jill Dragomir are in hiding at a human boarding school in the sunny, glamorous world of Palm Springs, California. The students—children of the wealthy and powerful—carry on with their lives in blissful ignorance, while Sydney, Jill, Eddie and Adrian must do everything in their power to keep their secret safe. But with forbidden romances, unexpected spirit bonds, and the threat of Strigoi moving ever closer, hiding the truth is harder than anyone thought.

Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Richelle Mead’s breathtaking Bloodlines series explores all the friendship, romance, battles and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive. In this second book, the drama is hotter, the romances are steamier, and the stakes are even higher.

Release Date: Fall 2012

For all of you going "That's the cover?" ..It's not. This book is the last book in the Matched series by Ally Condie. It's said to come out in Fall 2012 and the cover is said to be out ..I don't know when. I read Matched and it was breathtaking. I loved it and I still have to get my hands on Crossed, the 2nd book in the Matched Trilogy, but I haven't. :( Yet ...... :D

Summary:

Doesn't have one.

Release Date: July 10th 2012

Diva! Diva by Jillian Larkin! Diva is the 3rd book in The Flappers series. I love the covers. So intriguing and I love that it's set in 1920's. It's something out of my usual reading. I'm not even sure what to say ...it's just "wow" and the good kind too! It's coming out July 10th, 2012!

But will anyone listen to her?

Now that the charges against her have been dropped, Gloria Carmody is spending the last dizzying days of summer on Long Island, yachting on the sound and palling around with socialites at Forrest Hamilton's swanky villa. Beneath her smile, though, Gloria's keeping a secret. One that could have deadly consequences . . .

Sadly there isn't a cover for this upcoming Author's novel ... Venom by Fiona Paul. I'm glad I get to start a debut's author journey with them. Venom is the first in the Dark Waters series. It's said to come out in 2012. October 20th, 2012 to be exact. :)

Release Date: May 22nd, 2012

Fated by Alyson Noel. The first in her new series ... Soul Seekers. I'm really excited for this book! I love Alyson's writing. I liked her 'the immortals' series and 'Riley Bloom' series. I feel in love with both protagonists and I might be crazy but doesn't the girl from the cover look like Selena Gomez? There was some debate wether she was or not. :)  It's out May 22nd, 2012! :D Yay!
