Blogger Interview: Tabitha Sanchez

This is a series of Blogger Interviews. I'll post a different interview every Monday until April 8th. You'll get to know some of the awesome bloggy peeps and their blogs on the internet. Today we have the awesome Tabitha @ Tabitha's Book Blog
P.S You can follow her Twitter, she's loads of nice.

A big book shimmy (I totally got that from Epic Reads --they're awesome too!) to Tabitha!!

  • I think it's time for a back story. How did you find out about book blogging? Why/when did you decide "Hey I want to do this, it seems like fun"?

I first found out about book blogging... I want to say two a year and a half ago? I’d always loved reading, but I’d been in a reading slump so I was just googling favorite book guys or something. Anyways I came across the blog Down The Rabbit Hole and Amber (the owner) was hosting a YA Bachelor contest and that’s where I discovered Etienne St. Clair. After that I was hooked and was always reading book blogs - and I guess one day I just decided I wanted to have my own book blog, so I could talk about book guys.

Did you expect book blogging to be time-consuming? If not, how do you do it? Because honestly, I want to rip my hair out when I forget to post or just can't type them!

I didn’t expect it to be time consuming at all. When I first started I wasn’t really serious about it and I wasn’t consistently posting, but after about a month I read a blogging schedule post and how some bloggers try and post once a day - and I was like “wow, I want to try that”, and I did. And I kind of just got addicted to having posts on the blog. And I definitely get wanting to rip your hair out when you forget to post.

How do you deal with stress (the balance of real life and book-blogging life, not to mention school/work life)? Do you feel like your book-blogging life is like Miley's Hannah Montana life?

I actually don’t get too stressed when it comes to book blogging. I go to a technology based high school so I’m literally on my laptop all day and if we’ve finished our work at school we can do basically whatever. So there’s that - but then I also have a projects class that I got specifically so I could work on book blogging and then I have a Digital Publishing class. I’m pretty blessed in that sense, but I know next year once I start college things are going to get harder.

Do you want to be a published author someday? If you do, do you have a WIP? What's it about?

I’ve never actually thought about being an author, I kind of want to work behind the scenes when I’m older - but I do have a WIP. It doesn’t really have a concept yet. I’ve just been writing and I’m waiitng for it to all click.

When did you start reading vigorously? Was their a book or author that made you want to read more? For me it was Lauren Kate's Fallen series. I read Fallen and it was a done deal. BOOK LOVER 4 LIFE.

I’d like to say that I’ve always been a vigorous reader, but I’d be lying. I used to read on occasion - a few books a year? But then when I read Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins I became obsessed! I then moved onto Gayle Forman and Sarah Dessen and I became a BOOK LOVER 4 LIFE.

Why do you like/love reading so much?

I like escaping to another world for a few hours. Last year I went through a bit of a severe depression and well books were kind of the only thing I looked forward to for awhile - and my book blog!

Do you take review copies more seriously than your own reading picks? If yes, why do you this is the case? Trust me, I do it too.
I don’t get too many review copies - but when I do get them I take them seriously. I take notes while I’m reading and spend a little bit of extra time on the reviews. It’s because I know I’ve requested them (like on Netgalley), so I feel like writing a well thought out review is the least I can do for the authors and publishers.

Is your book-blogging life strictly online and book events and such? Or are you a bookish person in real life? In real life, my friends have to put up with me and my book-references. Needless to say, they are the best.
I’m definitely a bookish person in real life. I gift books to all of my friends, give them recommendations when they don’t want them, get defensive about my favorite books. Pretty much everything I do online. I even tell my english teacher about pretty much ALL of the books I read during my Digital Publishing class and I bother the librarian on a weekly basis. (Even though we have a “Media Lounge” instead of a library.

What do you think being part of the book blogging community is? What have you learned from this fantabulous community?
I love it! I never knew when I started my blog how great it could be. I’ve made so many fantastic friends and learned so many things. I especially like how tight knit the community is and how even though some bloggers don’t get along it’s still a close community.

What's your take on the e-book VS real print deal? I personally believe if the person is reading then LET THEM BE.
I feel the same. If someones reading then let them be. The only books I read on my Kindle are new adult novels and ARCs from Netgalley. I prefer to buy all of my other books.

What's your favorite genre(s)? Hmmmm, interesting pick(s)! Why?

Contemporary YA - and because I love being able to connect and believe that what’s happening to the characters has a real chance of happening to me.

Dystopian - I’ve really gotten into this genre lately. So if you have any recommendations.

New Adult - I don’t care what anyone says. I love this genre. It’s amazing.

You have been accepted to Hogwarts and you're packing to go but Peter Pan comes into your room and tells you "Let's go to Neverland!" What do you choose?
Hogwarts all the way. Peter Pan has always creeped me out for some reason and I wouldn’t be able to resist the cute wizard.

QUICK. YOU HAVE TO PICK A FACTION. DAUNTLESS, ABNEGATION, CANDOR, ERUDITE OR AMITY?
    - Welll.... when I took the quiz in the back of Divergent I got Candor and it’s pretty boys with their accents.
    This/That Round
    Sweet or salty?
    Salty.
    Vanilla or chocolate?
    Chocolate.
Team Gale or Team Peeta? / Team Edward or Team Jacob?
Peeta, Edward. Although in reality I wouldn’t want to date either of them.
TV shows or movies? TV SHOWS ALL THE WAY FOR ME. Dude. Pretty Little Liars, Merlin, Bunheads, Revenge, etc.
    - TV SHOWS. Have you seen How I Met Your Mother? BEST SHOW EVER.
Hot fictional character or real-life celebrity? Who?
Well... huh. I guess I’d go with hot fictional character and please. If I was shorter it’d be Etienne St. Clair

    Quick questions
    Favorite book(s)?
I have so many favorite books - honestly. So I guess On the Road, Anna and the French Kiss, and Unwind are at the top of my list as of right now.
    Favorite color?
    Dark blue and yellow.
The Hunger Games, Twilight, Harry Potter, Beautiful Creatures or City of Bones?
    City of Bones!

Thank you so much for letting me interview you, Tabitha! You're the best!
